Lock and Key Parties link Burlington Singles. The singles scene in Burlington is also moving fast forward, dahlings.
Melissa Seifert of Burlington and Laura Bilotta of Oakville are making sure of that.

Their business, Single in the City, does speed dating events in Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville.

Their latest venture for the 25 plus singles is something called a lock and key party, a popular event in the United States and United Kingdom.

Men get keys and women get locks. Each key fits several locks and each time a lock is opened, both singles get tickets to enter a raffle for prizes. Then new locks and keys are given out an they’re off, again.

The idea, says Seifert, allows singles to approach each other without having to worry about starting a conversation. The excitement mounts as singles scramble to unlock as many locks as they can to gain prize tickets.

Burlington singles tend to be professionals who like to dress up, says Seifert, who finds there is a high percentage of single women, especially over 35, and single parents. And there is a lot of crossover.

Oakville singles go to Burlington events, as do Hamilton singles. “Some Hamilton singles will not even go to Hamilton events, they prefer to come to Burlington.”

This Saturday night, the first lock and key party in the Halton area is at Philthy McNasty’s at 1250 Brant. St.
