If you book a spot for an event using your free speed date and cancel less than 5 business days prior you will lose the free event. Mixers and Parties Q & A’s What can I expect at a Lock and Key party? The Lock and Key Party is an exciting ice-breaker! Men get keys and women get locks; each key fits several locks and each time a lock is opened, both people get tickets to enter into a raffle for prizes. They then get new locks and keys with which to go out and meet more people. The more you play, the more prize tickets you get and the better chance you have at winning a prize. Of course…the main reason to participate is to mix and mingle. What can I expect at a Dance or Mixer? A dance or mixer usually includes DJ and Dancing, appetizers, cash bar, and some sort of interactive mixer game in the beggining to get everyone mingling. Some parties, dances and mixers have special themes and may have or not have some of the items mentioned above. Check each party listing for details of the event. Do we receive matches at these events? No…it’s up to you to approach, flirt away and find the nerve to ask for a number or email. Will food and drink be provided at the parties? Most parties will have complimentary appetizers and a cash bar, however each event is different. Be sure to check what is included with the event you are attending. Can I pay at the event? Most mixers, parties and dances have an option to buy tickets at the door. What if there are unequal numbers of men and women? We do not guarantee equal numbers of men to women or vice versa at our mixers, parties and dances. We try to keep the male to female ratio as equal as possible. What do I wear to a Mixer or Party? The dress code at most of our events is upscale casual. We recommend you put some effort into your appearance and dress to impress. No hats or runners allowed. General Q & A’s What kind of people come out to your events? We target urban professionals from different cities. If you are single, busy and looking for a safer, more interesting way to meet people our events may be for you. If you come to our events with a positive attitude and the desire to meet new and interesting people, you will have a great time! Take a look at our picture gallery for a better idea of the people that attend Single in the City events. What are the ages for the events? Our events generally target single men and women between the ages of 21- 55. Each event will have a specific age range listed. We do not have as many events for the 50+ age group as they are more challenging to fill. Check our events calendar periodically for events in your age range. What if I am out of the age range? We give or take 1-4 years leeway on the age range listed for each event. It is up to you to make the decision to attend. If you are still not sure, give us a call and we can help you out. How much does an event cost? Each event or activity has a different price; please check the event details for price. What happens if an event does not fill? If an event does not fill, we will postpone it and transfer your reservation. If an event is cancelled by us, you will have the option of a credit towards any future event or a full refund. If I cancel can I get a refund? There are no refunds or credits on mixers/parties or special event registrations. Speed dating events require 5 business days notice for refund or credit. How do I cancel? The best way to cancel for an event is to send an email using our Contact Us form AND leave a message at 1-866-740-7482 to ensure your cancellation is received. If I don’t have a credit card or debit card, how can I pay? Most events must be booked in advance, some events you may be able to pay at the door (this will be stated under each individual event). Another option would be to mail in payment. If you register early enough you can send a money order or certified cheque to the address listed on our contact us page. If you are planning to register using a money order or certified cheque, please call and speak to one of our representative's first to ensure there are tickets left and so we know to be expecting your order. Is it safe to pay with my credit card over the internet? We have a secure online registration system that will process your credit card. If you feel uncomfortable using your credit card over the internet, we can take your reservation over the phone; however it may take longer for you to register by phone as it could take 1-2 business days to respond to your call. To register by phone please call 1-866-740-SITC. If you are registering by phone, please try to call at least a week prior to the event of your choice to avoid it being sold out. Phone messages left do not reserve tickets, you must speak with a representative and give payment before a ticket will be held for you. For faster registration you should book online. How do I know I am registered? When you register with a credit card online, a receipt will be sent to your email. You will then receive an email reminder the evening prior or morning of the event, reminding you that you are registred and confirming the date, start time and location. Please call us if you do not get this reminder email, we may have the wrong information for you. Dating Service Q & A’s What is the $99 registration fee for? The $99 registration fee is paid by all participants that enroll in our Dating Service. This fee ensures that you are serious about participating. It takes a lot of time and effort for the SITC Matchmakers to process your file and meet for the interview. SITC wants to make sure that all registered clients feel genuinely about the program. Do I get my $99 registration fee back? The $99 registration fee is non-refundable. Our guarantee states that if we do not find you a potential match in 6 months, you will receive $50 from the $99 in the form of a credit to use towards any future events. If you are contacted by SITC for a potential date(s)within the 6 month period, (whether you accept or decline)no credit will be given. How many dates will I get? Our goal is to set you up on as many dates as possible to help you meet that special someone. The number of dates you receive will be based on your match-ability, how specific you are about what you are looking for and the percentage of people we have in the program who are a possible compatible match. We do not guarantee the amount of dates we will be able to find you nor the frequency of the dates. We will set you up on one date at a time. Hopefully the first date goes well and we don’t have to set you up on another! Do I have to pay any additional money other than the $99 registration fee? For every date that we find you, that you agree to and we set up, you will be charged an additional $50 service fee. If you reject a potential date you will not charged. What if I meet someone outside the program? You are welcome to leave our dating service at any time. Please note: your $99 registration fee is not refundable. How long does it take to find a potential date? Our goal is to find someone that you will like and be compatible with and to not set you up with someone randomly. Once we find you a potential date, you will be contacted by your Matchmaker. If we are unable to find you a potential match after 6 months, you have the option of withdrawing from the program with a credit of $50 that can be used towards any future SITC events. What if I don't like my date? There are no guarantees as to whether or not you will hit it off with your date. We will do our best to match you up with someone according to the information given and what we learn about you in your interview. What if I like my date and want to see them again? We don't want anyone feeling awkward on their date or obligated in any way to give out their phone number. The next day after your date, you will contact Single in the City to let them know whether or not you were interested in your date. If both parties are interested in each other, we will exchange their email and phone number. It is then up to both parties to go out again. What if I leave the program and want to join back again? If you request to leave the program, your file will be placed on hold for 3 months. if you do not contact SITC within that time to re-instate your membership, we will remove you from the program. Once you have been removed from the program and would like to rejoin, you will have to re-register and pay the $99 registration fee. But what if I hit it off with someone on my date and no longer want to set up? Call us and let us know that you would like to be put on hold. If you are on hold for more than 3 months we will remove you from the program and assume you are in a happy relationship. Why do you need to take pictures? Pictures are necessary to reference your file. They are put in your file and are only seen by your matchmaker. We do not show photos to your potential dates, nor will you receive photos of your potential dates. What if my date isn’t who they say they are? Keep in mind that this is a Blind Date process. We do our best to collect accurate information about each person. A person gains nothing from lying about who they are, we can only hope for honesty. We meet with all of our dating service participants during the interview process however; we do not perform any kind of background checks. All dating service clients are required to sign a waiver and truth statement. How is Single in the City’s Dating Service different from other Dating Services?
